Vote Polk 2024

Primary Election – June 4, 2024

March 26 - First day to request an Absentee Ballot.

 

May 15 - First Day of in-person voting and the first day that ballots can be mailed by the Polk County Election Office to voters that have previously submitted a request.

​

May 20 - Last day to request an Absentee Ballot, must physically be at the Election Office by 5 PM. The Voter Pre-Registration Deadline is also 5 PM. All additional voter registrations after 5 PM will need to use the same day voter registration procedure.

 

May 27 - Polk County offices are closed for Memorial Day

 

June 1 - Polk County Election Office open – hours to be determined

 

June 3 - Last day to vote early in person for primary election

 

June 4 - Election Day – Polls open 7 AM – 8 PM - Last day to fix any incomplete affidavit (unsigned ballots). Deadline is 8 PM. Mailed ballots must also physically be in the Polk County Election Office by 8 PM. Postmarks do not count.

General Election – November 5, 2024

August 27 - First day to request an Absentee Ballot

 

September 2 - Polk County offices will be closed for Labor Day

 

September 19 - Satellite voting petitions must be submitted no later than 5 PM

 

October 16 - Early voting at Election Office, Absentee Ballots mailed

 

October 21 - Last day to request an Absentee Ballot. The request must physically be in the Polk County Election Office by 5 PM. Voter Pre-Registration Deadline is also 5 PM. All additional voter registrations after 5 PM will need to use the same day voter registration procedure.

 

November 2 - Polk County Election Office open – hours to be determined

 

November 4 - Last day to vote early in person for general election

 

November 5 - Election Day – Polls open 7 AM – 8 PM. Absentee Ballots must physically be in the Polk County Election Office by 8 PM; postmarks do not count or surrendered at polling location

Additional Information

All candidates must receive a simple majority of the votes cast to be declared elected on November 5, 2024. If no one receives the majority then another election will be held in December, 2024.
